Old or worn pads may take a long time to bed in with a new disc and may affect the performance and longevity of the new disc. Using pads from other aftermarket brands with Galfer discs will void your warranty and may reduce performance. Ensure that the wheel hub contact surface is free of dirt or paint and use new disc mounting bolts if necessary.
Frequently replace your brake fluid and ensure that your braking system is properly bled. The thickness of the Galfer disc may vary from the original disc; this difference does not affect your braking function.Center the disc on the clean hub and mount the bolts according to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) torque specifications. Always break in your new brakes gently during the first 100 kilometers (60 miles) or the first 2 hours of riding after installation (except in emergencies). This will allow the new disc and pads to bed in properly. Avoid harsh braking during this period, except in emergencies.
Braking power may be significantly reduced during the bedding-in period. Repeated harsh braking during this period can lead to wheel lock-up, loss of braking, and damaged pads. Regularly check clips, hub mounting bolts, and caliper mounting bolts during the life of your Galfer product. Replace or tighten according to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications if necessary.All Galfer discs and kits can be used with standard brake lines and original master cylinders. Consult a certified dealer or professional mechanic if you are not fully qualified in motorcycle maintenance.
